LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 4 May 2023 – TT Meridian, the leading international logistics and trading company specializing in the UK and Vietnam markets, today announced its inaugural export of Vietnam’s Ri6 durians to the UK Market.
The company’s inaugural durian shipment departed from Tan Son Nhat Airport, Vietnam, on Wednesday, May 3 2023 and arrived at London Gatwick Airport, United Kingdom, on the same day local time.
The fresh fruit shipment cleared customs on the morning of Thursday 4 May 2023 and was delivered to distributor clients across the UK immediately thereafter.
“We are delighted to announce this inaugural shipment as it is expected to pave the way for more Vietnam’s Ri6 durians to enter the UK market,” said Thai Tran, Managing Director of TT Meridian. “As far as I am concerned, Ri6 durian is one of the most famous specialty varieties in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Henceforth we are confident about the quality of the product and we believe this variety will be welcomed by British consumers and distributors”.
The Ri6 durian variety is well known for characteristics such as creamy and lightly sweet taste, distinctive aroma, dry and yellow flesh and flat seeds. Ri6 is even praised as the “king of durians” by some fruit experts.
The commencement of durian trading is considered as one of the stepping stones for TT Meridian to introduce top Vietnamese products into the UK, taking full advantage of the tax benefits generated by the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement that took effect in 2021. Since then, the company has increased its focus on the logistics and trade activities between the two countries in anticipation of increasing trade volume and value.
During the rest of 2023, TT Meridian plans to increase its fresh fruit trading activities, introducing more of Vietnam’s tropical fruits into the UK market such as durian, mango, lychee, longan, etc. based on feedback and orders from distributors and consumers across the UK.
